Sheila's project

My project is a bag, ideal for any gift. I simply started with a plain paper bag, I cut away the handles and then I punched holes and threaded ribbon for the handles before placing decorated card to fit inside that bag. I used pearlised card to cut the die shapes for the front and back. I then found a backing paper to match the inside and the die shapes to decorate the card matts for the front and and back. I used a die shape for the sentiment on the front and back adn added gems to finish.

Kandis' project

'Hi fellow crafters, my post for 'anything but a card' is a scrapbook page.  I have never done scrapbooking before but when we rehomed our first briard Stroller I did make a little book of photographs for his breeder of his 1 year with us.  I honestly didn't think it was a scrapbook but that's exactly what it was. 

When we sadly lost Stroller and rehomed our little girl Enya I again decided to do a scrapbook of her first year for her breeder.  Both books are treasured by her.  So when I bought the CraftArtist programme I decided to to do a scrapbook of Enya for us but in CraftArtist.  This is page 7 and was her first holiday with us, in fact it was her first holiday ever.  She had a fantastic time as did we and this page is a lovely memory of a fantastic holiday.

Chris' project

 Sheila's theme of 'Anything but a card' got me thinking of doing some tags and this was the first of a trio where I was playing around with shapes and techniques.

I used the beautiful new flower stamps by Lin Brown (Eclectica at Paper Artsy).

 

 

I used Distress stains to colour both the base of the tag and the flowers. A scrap of coordinating handmade paper provided an additional feature of the background.

 

 

Once the stains had dried I added an ink spray to the background and distressed the edges with black ink.

 

 

I used a square punch to accentuate the centre of the flowers and added depth by decoupaging them.

Kathy's project

The idea of this gift set came from my mate Sheila......There are three boxes measuring 2 x 2 and 1 inch in depth, l for each....Baby Bracelet, First Tooth, and First Curl, using my dies for the frames for the text. Then l made a booklet, from two 6 x 6 cards, used Digi-designer for thepages, the first one for the Birth details etc, and the others for placing photo's or/and memories. l then stuck the two together down the spine with very narrow extra strong(red) tape. Using my dies once again decorated the front.

These were all then placed into the main box, with the lid having an acetate window.



Scene

This week is Kathy's turn to choose a theme and she chose 'scene'

Kathy's card

A Landscape A5 Gold pearlescent card, and chose Beige and Brown for the matts, having first stamped a twig design with Versamark ink, for watermark effect, and a matt of gold in between them. The stamped  image is one of Sheena's, "A little bit sketchy", stamped onto watercolour card, and then l used Aquamarkers to colour, then using one of my dies cut it out and inked the edges with Vintage Photo distressed ink. The faux ribbon is off-cuts from the matts, added skeleton leaves (from my stash), then finished off with the flower, made from Die'sire quilling dies also inked the edges to finish off.

Sheila's card

My card is an 8 x 8 easle card, I placed the sky paper on the folded part of the card and placed the beach paper on the inside. I then stamped out my images from the Faye Whittaker range from Joanna Sheen and coloured with spectrum noir pens. I then cut out all my images and placed them onto my card using foam pads I then added twine for the kite. Very simple but I enjoyed making it, hope it brightens your day.

Kandis card

'Hi folks.  This week is scenes and to be honest they are difficult for me as I am not good at them however, I have done this card which I hope you will like. 

 

I started with a C5 white card and matted some black card on.  I then took another piece of white card and embossed it using an m-bossilities folder which I then distressed a little around the edges with Antique Linen distress ink.

 

My scene is using some stamps from a project set by Dimension Stamps and I coloured them in using spectrum noir pens.  The smart lady is from Clarity Stamps and she was also coloured in with spectrum noirs but I had stamped her with versafine and then embossed her with clear embossing powder to get that glossy look. 

 

I matted my scene onto some red card and then matted that onto my embossed card.

 

Chris's card

The challenge of a scenic card sent me delving into stamps I've had a long, long time. I chose an 8" x 8" card as my base and decided on a gold base.

I've used one of the recent 'Tattered lace' dies to create a feature frame and left it in white so as not to detract from the watercolours.

I used watercolour crayons to watercolour with as it gives it a very light touch.

This card would be great for a guy.



Vintage

Chris' turn to choose the theme and she chose 'vintage'

Chris's card

Vintage, shabby chic, grunge, I love all these genres so I guess it was no surprise when I chose 'Vintage' as this weeks challenge, lol. (Sorry about the photo's but I cannot find a place with light that doesn't cast a shadow!)

With a passion for all things Tim Holtz I chose an image from his new 'Time Traveller' stamps as the main feature. The bracket is a Tattered Angels stamp, the scroll is a Sizzlits die, the clock face is a Paper Artsy stamp (on a Movers & Shapers die) and the quote and arty scroll stamps are Wendy Vecchi's Studio 490 stamps.

 

 

The main stamp has been coloured using paint crayons which I find easier to use than felt pens.

 

The Paper Artsy stamp is just the right size for the small pocket watch die and I punched out a small circle and added two holes to make the card button.

Kandis card

I began with a 15cm x 15cm base white card.  I had some vintage type paper in my crafty stash which actually was a freebie from a Cardmaking & Papercraft mag - just shows they do come in handy. 

I cut my vintage paper slightly smaller than the card, and then cut a piece of antique gold pearlescent card the same size as the card.  I cut an aperture out with my spellbinders to make a frame and glued the vintage paper onto the back of the antique gold card and then placed the whole lot onto my base card.

I have used alot of my spellbinder dies to decorate my card so in order: -

1.Morrocan motifs using some cream card.

2.Medallions 3 d-lites using antique gold card.
3.Blossom 5 in cream card and stamped the sentiment in versafine crimson red which I also clear embossed.

The flowers were all die cut using white card and then inked up with Victorian Velvet distress inks.  The dies I used was from Jewels Flowers & Flourishes set, as was the tiny butterfly.   All finished off with some card candi which has sweet little roses on.

Kathy's card

With the theme being Vintage l started with a brown craft card as the base card, the main matt and toppers were from a magazine, Creative Cardmaking, issue 41, this had been lying about so decided to use some of the contents.  I used Vintage Photo to ink all the edges and matted the two toppers onto brown pearlescent card. Turned the bottom corner and attached a brad, and finished off with some chip-board shapes from my stash, after inking them too. This was a pleasant change as l don't normally do Vintage, and am pleased with the finished card.

Sheila's card

My card is A5 and the base layer is core'dinations cardstock, my first layer is white card which I stamped onot using clear inkpad with leaves and heat to give me the resist technique then inked with distress ink to show up the leaves. My third layer I also stamped with the same leaves using a distress inkpad onto the same core'dinations I used for my base layer. I then made 2 matts using white card, I put shaving foam into a container and added alchol inks swirled them together and placed my card onto this, once done I removed excess shaving foam from my matts and it left me with the swirly pattern. I then layered these matts onto black card, I made a tag and inked it up to give the vintage look. I mounted this onto grey card before placing onto my card, stamped my sentiment and finished with two swirls and ribbon.

Stamping

Kandy's choice this week of theme this week, she decided on stamping.

Kandis' card

I started with a base white A5 card.  Matted from light blue card and then some patterned paper from my craft stash.  My image is a digi stamp from Saturated Canary called 'Boobilove' and she is adorable and most suitable for teenagers me thinks.  She was printed out onto watercolour card and then water coloured using whisper pens.

I then used a spellbinders 5x7 basics A & B dies to die cut her and also a blue mat.  Plus I die cut another blue mat and embossed it with craftstoo embossing folder.

As for my embellishments, the flowers were made using Marianne dies, as you can see I die cut a pink one and a white one and matted them. The rosette was made using sizzix paper rosette decorative strip.  All finished off with a little sentiment and some card candi.

Sheila's card

My base card was 8x8, I used a spotted embossing folder to make my first layer which I inked the edges before placing it onto my card. My second layer was a die shape which I used to cut out a piece of decorative paper, I also inked the edges before layering. I then made a third layer from another die and inked the edges. I stamped my image and coloured with spectrum noir pens and placed this onto my third layer before putting onto my card. I finished with ribbon gems and a sentiment.

Chris's card

What better for spring than this great set of stamps from Lin Brown in Paper Artsy's Eclectica range.

I've used just the stem and one of the flower heads stamped, cut out and mounted on a rectangle three times. The backing paper was made with paper strips.

Kathy's card

Base card is cream, A5 Landscape, the first matt is dark green, then l stamped the image and coloured with both my Promarkers and Spectrum Noirs. The "window" was from a tri-fold card out of my stash, trimmed to size for the card, putting peel-offs for the faux window look, placed this over the stamped image, then topped with another shade of green. Embellishiments are the stamped arch, with tiny flowers and leaves (a Pinflair punch), and New Home tag, also peel-offs for the corners and borders.
